The Gem of Dyma

((A story from the book of the siblings, (Not sure what the full name will be, think of it as a book like the bible, with different stories which have meanings to them) so its only ment to be short.))

The Gem of Dyma

As Damak created the earth, Dyma shed light onto it with the sun and the stars. However, for Dyma, the there was one world which seemed duller than the others, she wanted something which could be on the world, a symbol of hope and light for those who inhabited it.
With this vision, she created the Gem of Dyma, a powerful stone that shun light in the darkest places of the world. With the wood from the trees on the Isles of Pearl, a staff was created.
Dyma searched for a suitable person to carry the staff, and bring light to all those she visited. This person, was named Phitra, a Cimmerian woman, born in the mountains, she lead a normal life until the staff was handed down to her.

She carried on her simple life for many years, always knowing the powers, which the staff possessed, never daring to use them.

Around two weeks before her twenty-second birthday, a horde of Barbarians attacked the village in which she lived. The staff in her hand, she battled with them and eventually slaughtered them all. With no family, she left the village with only the staff and began her travels.

With the staff, she grew more powerful each day, eventually forgetting she was given it to put goodness into the world. Committing crimes, Phitra was unstoppable and feared throughout the lands.

One night, eager to test what more the Gem was capable with, she marched into cave of Scaleskin Lizard , expecting to slaughter them on the spot, and she did, resting on a large slime covered rock, a Scorpion scurried up to her ankle, stinging her with a unstoppable dead poison which raced though her veins. There was nothing she could do but sit there and after a few minutes, she fell to the cold rock floor of the cave…. dead.

As for the Gem, some people believe Dyma took it back as it was clear to her the inhabitance were not ready for such power, but there are some people who still believe the Gem is out there, ready for the next person to find and use as they wish….

((I think this story demonstrates perfectly how being sneaky and getting one good hit on someone can be more deadly than a whole army of men.))
