1 year after the foundation of the city of Kathia…
Midnight
It rained quite heavily that day, though there was little wind. Visibility was diminished aswell by a dim curtain of mist. There the city boomed up from the shrouds as she approached it warily. Doubt still gnawed Yasura’s mind of the news she heard about the House of the New Dawn residing in Kathia, making her cast a glance back to the valley behind her. She could still go back…
After a while Yasura turns herself to face the city again and continues her silent approach. Scanning the walls for patrolling guards she silently praises the rain for their absence and strides towards the base of the stone barriers, separating her and her possible masters. After lying silent and hearing for any suspicious sound she looks up to probe the height of the tip of the wall. After finding a suitable place she unwinds her grapple and throws it with a wide swing up the wall. A muffled sound makes a smile appear on her face as she tests the rope for a secure hold. Having adapted the art of total silence, Yasura developed a few techniques to avoid others and move about unseen, unheard. Her customised grapple was provided with a soft inner side to prevent any loud clangs from the metal. Surely Yasura heaves herself up the wall, constantly alert for footsteps or voices. Though she climbed much higher places before, it felt like an eternity, and the weather made the stones slippery for her footing. Inch after inch Yasura uses every muscle in her arms to bring herself up when suddenly… Her eyes widening and body shaking at the thought of getting caught; Yasura quickly regained her wits and froze solid, beating down her breath to nothing, unstirring anything from her body that might betray her. As the dulled sentry slowly passes by, she prays for the god she still believes in. Fortunately, her dark grapple was not reflecting any light and no alarm was raised when the slow footsteps reached the place she was hanging at, but it seemed to last for eternities and Yasura couldn’t wait there forever. Attempting to climb up and kill the sentry, die trying or go back down passes her mind. She waits, focusing on conserving power. As the guard finally passes by and Yasura cannot hold longer, she strains her muscles to get up.
Finally! She’s in. Crouching she looks around warily, unhooks her grapple and puts it back in her toolbag, then, after passing a hand through her soaked hair, Yasura disappears in the numerous little alleys of Kathia…
