| So conans a great game, and my comp is shite > im building a new one for it through Alienware and im on quite a budget so i'm getting the cheapest options available but I still think I should be able to run conan on medium with this. I'm usually a Nvidia buyer but this one comes with a 512MB ATI® Radeon™ HD 3850 - I just want to know what this is comparable too in the Nivida range, I heard it's nearly the equivalent of the 8600GT. Here's the overall details for the new system. You don't need to read unless your curious and feel like giving advice ^^ 1] Aurora™ Processor: AMD® Athlon™ X2 5200+ 2.7GHz Dual Core 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Processor Cooling : Alienware® Standard System Cooling Operating System: Genuine Windows® Vista Home Premium - English Alienware P2 Chassis : Alienware® P2 Chassis - Saucer Silver System Lighting: Alienware® Standard System Lighting - Astral Blue Acoustic Dampening: None Motherboard: Alienware® Approved AMD® 790FX Motherboard Includes PCI-Express 2.0, BIOS Overclocking Utility, and Support for AMD Phenom Quad-Core Processors Power Supply: 750 Watt Alienware® Approved Multi-GPU Power Supply Graphics Processor : Single Graphics Card - 512MB ATI® Radeon™ HD 3850 Memory: 2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz - 2 x 1024MB System Drive: Single Drive Configuration - 250 GB Serial ATA 3 Gbit/s, 7,200 RPM with 16MB Cache Storage Drive: None Additional Storage Drive: None Primary CD ROM/DVD ROM : 20X Dual Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Writer Secondary CD ROM/DVD ROM : None Enthusiast Essentials: Single High Performance Gigabit Ethernet Port Physics Processor : None Sound Hardware: High-Definition 7.1 Performance Audio - Standard Monitor: (None) Warranty: AlienCare 1-Year Free Phone 24/7 and Collect & Return AlienContact: Added Bonus with any AlienSupport Selection AlienContact - Remote Alienware Support Security Software: None Alienware Extras: AlienWiring - Exclusive Internal Wire Management - £50 Value - FREE! | Looks good overall, but if I may point something out...buy 2 x 2Gb RAM, especially when running Vista! You won't regret it | |

| I'm going to use the RAM I already have in this comp, hopefully it will have the RAM slots anyhow Saves me about £90. Edit: actually that's another thing, does anyone know if this CPU is likely to support 4 RAM slots? I tried searching it up but couldn't find anything. | |

| Good spec, altough... i've heard rumors saying that Vista can't handle more then 2g's of ram anyway. i myself got 4 atm... hoping to find some validation of that rumour. | |

| It's true, but it's about 3 gigs of RAM. However for the 32bit OS something or other you need 4 gigs installed. | |

| They "promised" the full use of RAM with the new Service Pack of Windows, we'll see if it's true As stated above, 4 RAM is indeed required for 32-bit (or was it 64-bit?) OS to work at best You can check it by going to Control Panel => System => look how much RAM Windows recognizes anyway...I don't have RAM issues and I run Windows XP, which is better atm (better performance, stability, uses less resources, etc) | |

| Our new computer arrived today (it was late due to some problems with a component during test run). Obviously I'll be sitting up configuring everything, installing stuff and knitting a cobweb out of seemingly unnecessary cables. No AoC for me tonight, that is! But later...... | |

| Weird...
The new computer STILL shows a glitch in the character selection screen (the character isn't visible, but the background and flag is). I haven't checked out if the sea is shown - my old computer showed a big hole where water was.
It runs Vista Ultimate 32-bit and renders the game smooth like mixed mashmallows with extra oil on the highest settings. Strange that the glitch from my old computer should reappear on this one as well.
Other issues is that I cannot make the soundcard to work. All is silent. Well well, will continue to configure this afternoon. Perhaps I have to reinstall the motherboard settings.

| I think that's a common glitch, it did that alot in the beta. The character screen invisibility stuff. | |

| Now the game works fine. But the computer crashes and shuts down without warning (unrealated to AoC)... why me!?! | |

| Are you sure you installed the CPU fan properly? I had a similar problem because the mountings for the fan were very difficult to get in place and the computer would shut off randomly because the CPU overheated. Without a warning too. | |

It's watercooledd, but I think it is a heat problem as you said. I will open it and check if things seem to run as they should. Everything should be installed properly, since I bought it readybuilt from Komplett.

| I get a blue screen from time to time (yes, a blue screen of death), stating one of the secondary processors didn't get a timeout in time. Really annoying, since it also screws up my settings on conan sometimes. Apparently it's a known bug related to the processor type I use (AMD(?), can never remember the correct order of those letters). | |

| I found out that the asus motherboard doesn't work well with watercoling (the north bridge gets overheated). They will install a new motherboard, problem sloved, I have to wait for at least a week... | |
