5) Character description:
Atherius is a man with a strong jaw, set in a face with a damaged nose. His eyes are brown, with brown hair growing long down his neck. Unlike some Aquilonians he doesn’t seem bothered with his appearance, often unwashed and stale. He has a swaggering stride with a portion of confidence in it, a weary tone of voice. He does not often smile, but when he does, he shows uneven teeth set in a joyful and welcoming grin. His armor is often dirty, his weapons having notches and scratches. Should he tidy up, he could be considered rugged, but as it is, he has a smell of onions and old ale. He is of moderate height and might be a tad overweight. His clothes are simple and he seems to hold little wealth of his own.

6) Character background:
The man Atherius was born in a small village within a day’s journey from the capital city. He grew up believing he would become a farmer like his father, meeting a girl which with to raise a flock of children. Indeed, he had an eye for the blacksmith’s daughter. This was not to be. At the age of seventeen he was conscripted into the army to fight in one of the many wars, a lad who no longer controlled his future. And fight he did. When he returned six years later he was unable to settle down peacefully. His years in the field robbed him of the tranquil life he had imagined, making him a harder more brutal man. After attacking the man the blacksmith’s daughter had married while drunk, he left the village ashamed, starting to live life as a sell-sword, a caravan guard and soldier for hire.

7) Your characters reason to want to join:
Atherius searches for a life and place in this world. He no longer has a home and seeks to help build one, with weapon in hand if he has to. More than anything, he seeks to belong somewhere in this world, and hearing of Damak and Dyma, he feels he has heard a fundamental truth..
